Peoples Bank possesses highly competitive products and even stronger brand recognition in their marketplace, they used this to their advantage to support an effort to increase checking account openings. Since competing banks were offering generous account opening bonuses, Peoples Bank added an incentive component to sweeten the deal, offering a $220 bonus offer for new checking accounts with a direct deposit made within 90 days of account opening.

Project Goals

To leverage the bank’s strong market awareness and competitive products, plus generate deposits through increased checking account openings.


After reviewing the metrics of the various options, a cost-efficient digital visibility campaign (Always-On) was developed to assist in gaining continual visibility and high search rankings, while leading to an increase in new accounts with measurable ROI. The campaign was comprised of six elements - direct mail, print ads, SEM ads, display ads, social media ads (during peak times) and a regularly updated landing page where all ad clicks were driven. The landing page included content outlining the top benefits for opening a checking account with the bank, as well as a digital switch-kit to help expedite the account opening process (the bank did not have online account opening capabilities). The landing page also featured an account chooser tool to guide users in determining which account was the best fit for their specific needs.
