Changes to the Layout of Facebook Pages

Facebook has recently announced that they are rolling out changes to the layout of Pages. Page administrators should be aware that this change is coming, and know what they can expect. The changes include:

  • The company name and industry, and the buttons to Like, Follow and Message are now located over the bottom of the cover photo.
  • Content will be in one column, on the right hand side of the page.
  • The app icons, photos and videos will be in the left hand column.
  • When you click on an app icon, the app will now appear beneath the cover photo and buttons
  • Page posts are now wider, so images will be even more prevalent
  • The Admin tools and notifications have been relocated

Below is an example of a Facebook page that has switched to the new layout. https://www.facebook.com/marketing/timeline The biggest impact of this relates to the cover photo. Now that the new layout features text and buttons over the cover photo, it is important to ensure content will not be hidden. The visibility of the Page name and industry should also be taken into consideration. Notifications have been popping up on Facebook Pages asking administrators if they want to join the waitlist for the new Pages layout, and we would encourage you to do so. It is a simple process, requiring just one click.
